"Naomi's graduating this year?" queried my aunt.
"Yes, in May. We let her skip a grade," Mom replied.
"What does she want to do?"
"Oh, she wants to go to Bible College for a year at the school her dad attended, and then she
would love to get married."
My aunt's reply was full of passion. "Well, she won't have my blessing until she's at least
25 and has a career behind her. I don't go for this barefoot and pregnant thing."
These words, spoken at my grandparents' house last Friday night when we went up to Cleveland,
Ohio for a visit, and which I just so happened to overhear while playing with my 10- and 5-year-old cousins, set my thoughts
churning. How could she respond that way? What was she thinking? I was reminded of all the Bible verses, articles, and books
I had read which showed how clearly wrong her words and the philosophies behind them were.
Are you thinking the same things I'm thinking? Or do you feel as my aunt did and are wondering
where
I'm coming from? Well, either way, I have tried to post in this section some links to the articles I mentioned.
